Well, this post is long overdue because I started this lyric video to C’est La Vie by Swindail pretty much a year ago and just finished it this summer. My excuse is trying to figure out what to do for the chorus and everyone’s best friend, procrastination.
Slow and steady wins the race, so there’s no losses here and I’m very excited to finally share it with you!
Besides photography, my interests include motion graphics so I decided to create a fun kinetic typography lyric video. I chose C’est La Vie as the song because the lyrics told a story which makes the video more interesting than if it was just the same words repeated over and over.
The process of me making this lyric video was more simple than you would think. For each line of lyrics, I typed out each word and laid them out in a nice way with varying text sizes before adding any effects. Once that was done, I blindly played with all the different effects that After Effects has to offer and manipulated the controls to customize the overall appearance.
Don’t get me wrong, it definitely was time consuming but I have so much fun making motion graphics that it doesn’t phase me.
I’ve still got a lot to learn when it comes to motion graphic and using After Effects, but I’m thoroughly proud of how the video turned out.
What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments.
Thanks for reading (and watching) and stay hungry to learn, create and grow!
