Last weekend I got the coolest opportunity to officially shoot my first festival, 80/35 Music Festival, in Des Moises, Iowa. I’m talking laminated lanyard and all, so it was cool to be able to walk pretty much anywhere and not have anyone question your credentials.
80/35 Festival was celebrating their 10th year and I’m glad I got to be a part of it, because the music, vibes and styles were all on point. It was much smaller than other festivals I’ve been to, but it was perfect in every way.
The weather was great, the crowd wasn’t full of inconsiderate teens, had a nice mix of ages, and the structure of the festival was well laid out which made the overall experience very enjoyable.
The line up was filled with local Iowa bands like Ancient Posse and The Maytags as well as cool headliners like The Shins, MGMT, and Action Bronson who sadly canceled his set due to a family emergency. Although I didn’t get to stay hear full sets of the bands and artists, I really enjoyed just walking around the festival and didn’t feel creepy people watching while searching for whoever would make the best photo.
The people of 80/35 was filled with an array of colored hair and lips, awesome threads and cool sunnies, I swear I almost broke my neck every time I saw a group of well-dressed individuals.
I love getting inspired by random street style, because it’s always looks so effortless and model off duty. Do you ever see pieces on people and wish you could buy it off of them? That’s pretty much me all the time.
While I was there I made sure to get a few clips of all the other cool clothing, patterns, purses, backpacks and accessories that I laid my eyes on and edited it into a video for your viewing pleasures. In addition, I tried to approach as many people who were attending the 80/35 Music Festival and compiled some of my favorite shots sure to give you style envy!
Which look inspired you the most? Let me know in the comments.
Thanks for reading and stay hungry to learn, create and grow!
