I’ve always wanted to go explore a pop up art installation and Sugar Republic Melbourne made my dreams come true. Back in December when I heard about Sugar Republic being in Melbourne, I bought my ticket right then and there.
Sugar Republic is a fun and colorful exhibition celebrating my favorite thing, candy! Throughout this installation there are rainbow walls, a giant ball pit over looking the city, a pink bubblegum room, bright neon wall, and sweet dreams bedroom. To make it even better, there was free candy and Halo Top ice cream at the end.
At the beginning of February, I made my way to Myer Melbourne and would be lying if I said I didn’t plan my outfit accordingly. I knew that there was going to be lots of different colors so I wanted to wear something neutral yet still cool enough to go with everything. The white t-shirt and flannel are second hand, the jeans are from The Ragged Priest, and the shoes are Nike.
I don’t want to spend time describing the rooms to you when I can just show you pictures. My favorite room was probably the skittles wall because of all the different colors or the pink bubblegum room because I love a good neon sign and mood lighting. Even though my ticket allotted for 1 hour, I spent 2 hours going back and forth between all the different rooms taking as many photos as I could.
Overall, my first time going to an art installation was a really good time. I loved all the great photo opportunities and the fact that they played Milkshake by Kelis. It’s a great outing for any age so if you ever get the chance to check out Sugar Republic I would recommend it.
Which room is your favorite? Let me know in the comments.
