Photo shot by Kyle Cavazos and model is Bella Briggs!
Back in April when I was in California, my friend Kyle showed me some super 8 footage that he shot but wasn’t sure about how to edit. He asked me if I was down to edit it and months later, I finally found the inspiration to do it.
There’s just something so beautiful and raw about super 8 film footage, I love the natural dust scratches and grain. It’s hard to create that authentic feel during post so since it was already done for me, putting this video together was easy for me.
The cool thing about Super 8 is that when you get the footage back it’s all one continuous clip, so it’s up to you to cut the footage into different clips. After viewing the footage a few times, it’s obvious that a lot of the clips show the model looking confused and like she’s searching for something. Once she finds what she’s been looking for there’s a sense of contentment that takes over and that’s the story I wanted to tell.
I’m constantly on Soundcloud discovering new music and Sofasound is one of the artists I’ve really been vibing to so when I heard the song, You Were the Best Part of Me, I knew it was perfect for this video.
Maybe one day I’ll shoot my own Super 8 film if I find a camera to borrow or purchase one myself. What are your thoughts on the video, have you ever shot on Super 8 film? Let me know in the comments.
Thanks for watching and stay hungry to learn, create and grow!
